In 1981, metal pioneers Black Sabbath was under pressure to follow-up their hit album 'Heaven and Hell', their first with new singer Ronnie James Dio. By the second Dio led album, which they titled 'Mob Rules', original drummer Bill Ward was gone. They needed a really good replacement, and they found one with drummer Vinnie Appice! Vinnie is the younger brother of Carmine Appice, who was the powerhouse drummer for many hard rock and heavy metal bands through the years (starting with Vanilla Fudge in the late 60s). Vinnie Appice was so good that when Dio left to start his own namesake band in late 1982, he took Vinnie with him!
'Mob Rules' has a few standout songs on the album, such as the title track, "Turn Up the Night", "Country Girl", and "Sign of the Southern Cross". A great album, with some very strange album cover artwork! (They used a painting by artist Greg Hildebrandt.) In 2006, the Earmark company, by way of Sanctuary, Get Back, and Grimcastle, released the album on a 12" picture disc LP. It was recently reissued, and released as a pic disc for a Record Store Day item, but this is the original early 2000s release! And they can go for really big bucks. (See pic for a competing website's copy up for sale right now.) But not here, and not today! Plus, I'll also add the TWO disc 2021 remastered CD set that's still SEALED!
The pic disc comes in its original sleeve with hype sticker. Bought new, and never opened. The jacket looks great, and has NO splits! Just a little crinkling on the bottom. In really, really nice condition! The vinyl is in mint condition, and is, of course, still shiny and clean. The two disc set is STILL SEALED and NEVER OPENED or PLAYED! It's the original album remastered in 2021, with THREE new tracks added. (The 'Heavy Metal' movie soundtrack version of "Mob Rules", a new 2021 remix of "Mob Rules", and the live version of "Die Young".) The second disc is previously unreleased live tracks from shows in London and Portland! Brand new early 80s Black Sabbath, made to be played LOUD!
