86pc English Sterling Silver Hanoverian Style Rat Tail Flatware Set

Presented is a very fine quality, 86 piece English sterling silver flatware set.
This is a married set, so although the pieces match and are in the same pattern,
they have different date letters and different makers, such as Tiffany &
Company, Robert Ensko Inc, Crichton Brothers and Peter Guille. This is a good
weight set. This is a fairly modern set made during the 20th century but done in
the Hanoverian or Queen Anne style of the 18th century. The pieces have a
classical rat-tail accent on the reverse side where the handle meets the base.
The dinner knives, luncheon knives, 6 of the salad forks, the soup spoons and
the place spoons all have an R monogram on the back of their handle. All of the
knives have stainless steel blades.

This set includes:

All of the pieces in the set are marked with the leopard’s head for London
and the lion passant for sterling silver. All of the knives have a date letter O
for the year 1949 and a maker’s mark for Peter Guille. The dinner forks have a
maker’s mark for Tiffany & Company with the date letters m, p and q for the
dates 1967, 1970 and 1971. 6 of the salad forks are marked for Robert Ensko Inc.
and have the date letter O for the year 1949. The other 6 salad forks are marked
for Tiffany & Company and have the date letters k, r, and s for 1965, 1972
and 1973. The place spoons, tea spoons, coffee spoons and master butter knife
are marked with a date letter P for the year 1950 and a maker’s mark for the
Crichton Brothers. The demitasse spoons have the same marks as all the other
spoons except they have a date letter N for the year 1948.

This set is in excellent overall condition. There is minor wear commensurate
with age and light use but there are no dents, no breaks, no monogram removals and no repairs.

The total weight of the set, without the knives, is 2,400 grams or 84.6
ounces.
