Large quarto family Bible (11 ½ ” x 9”) in full leather with original gilt covers featuring an ornate gothic reredos and central cross.  New spine with six gilt panels laid down.  Early American edition of the authorized Catholic Bible in the Douay Rheims Version with Challoner annotations.  12 full page engraved plates including frontispieces to each testament. Engraved title pages to each testament. Gilt inner and outer dentelles and all edges gilt.  Double line fillets around each page of text.  Complete edition of Ward’s “Errata of the Protestent Bible” at the end of text. No writing except for Family Page section filled in. Corners bumped.  Browning and foxing to interior, esp. plates.  Some loss to gilt.  Despite minor flaws, an attractive, substantial volume.793; 228; & 118 pp. including tables, Imprimaturs, etc.  Large, heavy book.
