This is a full-color reprint of the 1945 Army Air Forces manual "Pilot Training Manual for the Thunderbolt P-47N" 110 p, 1945, AAF 51-127-4. This manual was the standard training manual for the P-47N "Jug", using the Pratt-Whitney R-2800 engine, the most powerful engine in the P&W line at the time. The P-47 was quite fast and agile, and was known to be rugged and nearly indestructible. With 8 Browning M-2 .("Ma Deuce") 50 caliber guns, the Jug outgunned the Mustang and greatly outgunned the M-209 with its four 20-mm guns.

Chapters include Flight Controls, Power Plant, Water Injection, Radio Equipment, K-14 Gunsight, Armament, Armor Protection, Automatic Pilot, Flight Characteristics, Acrobatics, Dives, Bailout and Ditching.

This reprint does not look like the original paperback glue-bound manual. It is a modern reproduction, scanned in full color at 300 BPI. The cover is an image of the original cover printed on 60 lb card stock. The manual is printed on 24 lb paper and bound using comb-binding with acetate clear front cover sheet and black vinyl back cover sheet. Every page has been hand-edited to correct defects (tears, blemishes) and bring the colors to as close to the original as possible.
