Presented is a fabulous Norwegian silver bowl or dish by Henrik Moller. This
piece is made very much in the Dragestil style for which Moller is known. The
bowl itself is round and beautifully chased around the exterior with intricate
Viking inspired knotwork decoration, with little scrolled flourishes branching
off. The handle likewise has a foliate design where it meets the body and the
rim. The bowl stands on four legs done in the form of figural dragons or other
fantastical reptiles, something that wouldn't look out of place in an
illuminated manuscript. The piece is very detailed and well made, with fine hand
texturing and detailing throughout. The interior of the bowl has a round banner
engraved, with the Greek inscription E Aletheia Anei, “The truth
rises/approaches.” The underside of the dish has a presentation to John Munro
Longyear 3D, both in English and in Norse/Viking (Younger Futhark) runes. Truly
a wonderful example of Moller's work, I cannot imagine a more striking and
visually intriguing addition to any table.

The underside is stamped with the maker's mark for Henrik Moller (Møller), as
well as 830 for the purity of the silver and Trondhjem.

This piece is in excellent condition. There are no splits, no dents, no
monogram removals, and no repairs.

This piece measures about 6 x 4 7/8 x 3 5/8 inches, LxWxH.

This piece weighs 340 grams or 12 regular ounces.
