SCALA DI GRADAZIONE (GOLDMINE):

SS = Still Sealed. Disco ancora sigillato. 

M = Mint. Il disco non presenta nessun graffio o riga. L’etichetta non presenta nessuna scritta, adesivo o segno del giradischi (spindle mark) ed è posizionata esattamente al centro del disco. La copertina non presenta nessuna macchia, chiazza, scolorimento, adesivo, ring wear, angolo piegato, rottura o scritta.

NM o M- = Near Mint (NM) o Mint Minus (M-). Il disco presenta una superficie lucida, senza difetti visibili. Nessun click e pop durante la riproduzione. L’etichetta è senza difetti di stampa e centrata perfettamente sul disco. Senza scritte, adesivi, segno di giradischi (spindle marks), macchie o altri segni. La cover è senza pieghe, ring wear e aperture sul dorso.

VG+ o EX = Very Good Plus (VG+) o Excellent (EX). Il disco potrebbe avere piccoli graffi o solchi molto leggeri che non influenzano l’ascolto, o minime deformazioni anch’esse non percettibili all’ascolto. L’etichetta è senza scritte, adesivi o difetti maggiori. Potrebbero esserci minimi segni di utilizzo come piccoli segni attorno al foro centrale, ma esso non è  deformato. La copertina potrebbe presentare usure o rotture sul dorso, ma non più grandi di un paio di centimetri. Potrebbero essere presenti leggeri ring wear o scoloriture appena visibili oppure presentare alcune piccole pieghe in corrispondenza di dove giace il disco. Potrebbe esserci un Cut-Out hole.

VG = Very Good.  Il disco presenta dei segni di utilizzo e leggeri solchi che è possibile sentire con l’unghia. Durante l’ascolto, un disco VG può presentare rumori di superficie e qualche pop specialmente tra un brano e l’altro. I rumori però non coprono la musica. L’etichetta potrebbe presentare delle piccole scritte, adesivi o scotch. La copertina potrebbe presentare dei possibili segni dovuti all’utilizzo e al passare del tempo. E’ prevista la presenza di un ring wear dove poggia il disco. Potrebbero esserci rotture e/o strappi su tutti e tre i lati ma non devono essere eclatanti. Scritte a penna o adesivi con il prezzo di vendita potrebbero essere presenti. La copertina potrebbe essere scolorita, con angoli piegati, macchie o altri difetti del genere.

G = Good. Il vinile è stato suonato talmente tante volte che la qualità del suono si è deteriorata a causa delle evidenti rigature superficiali o dei graffi che generano percettibili cracks e pops all'ascolto .La copertina presenta evidenti segni di usura dovuti all'archiviazione, strappi, evidenti scritte, macchie, incollature, segni di restauro o ringwears.

F = Fair. Il vinile può essere ancora suonato ma, oltre a mostrare rilevanti segni sul vinile, potrebbe saltare all'ascolto. La copertina, accusa notevoli segni d'usura dovuti all'archiviazione, graffi, ringwears, rilievi nella laminatura, arrotondamento dei bordi, scoloriture o comunque elementi estranei (scritte, adesivi ecc).

P = Poor. Il disco è talmente usurato da non suonare più in modo corretto. La copertina è severamente danneggiata e può avere dei pezzi mancanti.

B = Bad. Il disco non solo non può essere suonato, ma potrebbe essere addirittura rotto.Viene usato normalmente come pezzo di ricambio qualora alcune sue parti (copertina, inserti, gadgets ecc) possano essere riutilizzate.

I segni (+) e (-) accanto al simbolo, in ordine, ne accrescono e ne diminuiscono il significato.

GRADING SCALE (GOLDMINE):

SS = Still Sealed.

M = Mint. Absolutely perfect in every way. Certainly never been played, possibly even still sealed.

NM o M- = Near Mint (NM) o Mint Minus (M-). A nearly perfect record. A NM or M- record has more than likely never been played, and the vinyl will play perfectly, with no imperfections during playback. The record should show no obvious signs of wear. A 45 RPM or EP sleeve should have no more than the most minor defects, such as any sign of slight handling. An LP cover should have no creases, folds, seam splits, cut-out holes, or other noticeable similar defects. The same should be true of any other inserts, such as posters, lyric sleeves, etc. 

VG+ o EX = Very Good Plus (VG+) o Excellent (EX). A Very Good Plus record will show some signs that it was played and otherwise handled by a previous owner who took good care of it. Defects should be more of a cosmetic nature, not affecting the actual playback as a whole. Record surfaces may show some signs of wear and may have slight scuffs or very light scratches that don't affect one's listening experiences. Slight warps that do not affect the sound are "OK". The label may have some ring wear or discoloration, but it should be barely noticeable. Spindle marks may be present. Picture sleeves and inner sleeves will have some slight wear, slightly turned-up corners, or a slight seam split. An LP cover may have slight signs of wear, and may be marred by a cut-out hole, indentation, or cut corner.

VG = Very Good.  Many of the defects found in a VG+ record will be more pronounced in a VG disc. Surface noise will be evident upon playing, especially in soft passages and during a song's intro and fade, but will not overpower the music otherwise. Groove wear will start to be noticeable, as with light scratches (deep enough to feel with a fingernail) that will affect the sound. Labels may be marred by writing, or have tape or stickers (or their residue) attached. The same will be true of picture sleeves or LP covers. However, it will not have all of these problems at the same time.

G = Good. A record in Good or Good Plus condition can be played through without skipping. But it will have significant surface noise, scratches, and visible groove wear. A cover or sleeve will have seam splits, especially at the bottom or on the spine. Tape, writing, ring wear, or other defects will be present. While the record will be playable without skipping, noticeable surface noise and "ticks" will almost certainly accompany the playback

F = Fair. The record can still be played but, as well as showing evident signs on the vinyl, it could skip. The cover could have significant signs of wear due to storage, scratches, ringwears, protrusions on the laminating, edge rounding, discoloration or extraneous elements (writings, stickers etc).

P = Poor. The record is so worn out that doesn’t sound  correctly anymore. The cover is severely damaged and there could be missing pieces.

B = Bad. The record not only cannot be played, buti t could even be broken. It is normally used as spare part in the event that some parts of it (cover, inserts, gadgets etc) can be reused.

The signs (+) and (-) next to the symbol, in order, will increase and decrease the meaning.
