DESCRIPTION

Genesis - “The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway” Atco Records SD 2-401 (Stereo) from 1974. Hard to find Original First Edition Repressing Progressive / Pop / Classic Rock album from Genesis featuring Peter Gabriel, Steve Hackett, Tony Banks, Michael Rutherford and Phil Collins. In the Original Gatefold Cover with NO Cutouts, Barcode or promo markings. Includes the Original Picture and Lyrics Inner Sleeves. This a Monarch Repressing from the same year as the First Pressing but on the Yellow with Black Print Atco labels with the Warner Bros. “W” Balloon Logo in the rim print. CONDITION

The Sleeve is in good shape. There is fairly slight shelf wear (mostly just dirtiness on the white cover) and corner softening/wear. Both top seams are partly split at the opening edge, the front about 1” and the back about 6”. The bottom seams are also part split about 2” front and 1” back. Still solid with no stains, tears, writing, cutouts, etc. and would rate VG overall. The Vinyl is in clean Glossy condition. There are light scuffs, marks and hairlines - no actual scratches i.e. something you can feel with a fingernail. VG visually and mostly plays better but does have spots of groove noise, crackle and a few soft tics - might be improved with a better cleaning than I can give with my Discwasher brush. The labels show a few light spindle trails but are otherwise Near Mint. The inner sleeves have some light ring impression, wrinkling and a few small part splits, still nice.

TERMS AND DEFINITIONS

Records are graded to the best of my ability to Goldmine Visual standards. If I provide Play Grades it is done as a courtesy but I only guarantee the Visual Grade. If you are not familiar with this grading system (or even if you think you are!), please check it out before bidding. I have summarized the important (i.e. I think everyone knows what Mint means) points below in Goldmine's words:

Very Good Plus (VG+): Record surfaces may show some slight signs of wear and may have slight scuffs or very light scratches that don't affect one's listening experience. Slight warps that do not affect the sound are OK.

Very Good (VG): Surface noise will be evident upon playing,... Groove wear will start to be noticeable, as will light scratches (deep enough to feel with a fingernail) that will affect the sound.

I stand by my grades but would like us to be on the same page so no problems arise. I have been selling Vintage Vinyl for over twenty years on the net and I can count the returns I've had on one hand so I believe my grading is fair and accurate. One important note, I try to grade to these Goldmine guides as best as I can understand and apply them. This gives us both a written standard to go by rather than having to guess. But.... it also means that I don't issue refunds over differences of opinion in grading i.e. "That's not MY idea of a VG record!" - I don't know what your standards are and, as such, can't grade to them. I guarantee that items I sell will meet my description, nothing more or less! If you are not satisfied that a purchase meets my description, I will do what I can to make it right if you give me the chance and work with me! Please feel free to check my feedback.
