Interior detail
The Union Pacific Railroad started passenger service in the
1890s between Omaha & San Francisco and over the following decades,
expanded its passenger service to cover from Chicago to the US West Coast.
In 1934, it began streamliner service, which included the
introduction of non-articulated passenger cars.
Originally painted with an Armor Yellow & Leaf Brown paint scheme,
from 1940, all streamliner cars were painted with an Armor Yellow & Harbor
Mist Gray scheme, with all passenger equipment carrying these colors from 1952.
The models in this set represent passenger cars used by
Union Pacific during the streamliner period on its various “City” series
services and carry the post-1940 paint schemes.
Dome Observation car #9009 was built in 1955 and used on
UP’s City of Portland service. It was
renamed in 1993 to “City of San Francisco” (though not showing on this model)
and is now part of UP Heritage Fleet.
This is an Astra Dome car, and the only dome lounge in the UP Heritage Passenger
Fleet still configured for end-of-train service.
Coach #5469 was built in 1954 and was also used on UP’s
City of Portland service.
Coach #5450 was built in 1953 and from 1955, was used on
UP’s Challenger train between Chicago & Los Angeles, which eventually was
combined on the City of Los Angeles schedule.
Diner 4803 was built in 1949 and most likely used as part
of UP’s City of St Louis consists. Diners from the same build order were also
used on the City of Portland, City of Los Angeles & City of San Francisco
services.
The models have never been run on a layout and can be
considered near new. The box is showing
some signs of age & wear, but the models are still in top condition. Please review the photos as they form part of
the description.
