This original poster belongs to an important collection initiated by my husband's grandmother in 1973. The collection was gradually transported to the United States between 1998 and 2012, adhering to stringent Cuban and U.S. government regulations regarding the import and export of art from the island. Each batch of posters was meticulously processed by the Registro Nacional de Bienes Culturales de la República de Cuba, with permits issued under my name and my husband's name, ensuring their legal transfer. The posters have been carefully preserved, kept flat in a temperature-controlled room since they left Cuba. However, due to the humid and hot climate of the island, as well as careless handling and poor storage over the years, some posters may exhibit minor flaws such as small border tears, cracks in the silkscreen paint, pinhole bug bites, and water stains. These imperfections are common in Cuban posters from the 60s and 70s. .
Some flaws like small tears in the border, cracks in the silkscreen paint, pinhole bug bites and water stains are very common in Cuban posters due to the humid/hot weather. Careless handling and poor storage of the posters also contributed to their condition. It is very difficult to find an original silkscreen from the 60's and 70's. And almost impossible to find it in pristine condition. In the majority of titles, only 250-500 handmade posters were ever printed and except for a selected group of collectors, most people disposed of them by dressing walls or recycling. Only a fraction of those survived until now. This is one of the very few.

TITLE:
Dama de abolengo Lady Caroline Lamb is a 1972 film based on the life of the notorious Lady Caroline Lamb (1785-1828), lover of Lord Byron
YEAR: 1973
ARTIST: Antonio Reboiro
MEDIUM: Silkscreen
SIZE: 20"x30"= 51x76cm
CONDITION and GRADE: 4 (see scale bellow)  COMMENTS: This poster was repaired in Cuba in the left upper corner.

This is a simple grading scale I developed for silkscreen movie posters. I'd been an avid collector for almost 20 years and I've seen thousands of them. I was part of the poster scene and met many of the artists. I read everything is printed about Cuban posters. With every original poster I will send you a Certificate of Authenticity legally graded and signed by me.

1-MINT. This spot is reserved only for those lucky posters that were acquired while new by collectors that luckily like them so much, that kept them in a acid-free and temperature-humidity controlled environment. Even under these circumstances, yellowing of the paper is expected.
2-VERY GOOD- The poster is complete. Painting is smooth and bright. Some small tears around the border might be present as long as they are repaired to avoid further damage.
3-AVERAGE-Here lies every poster that is still beautiful enough to be framed and admired, waiting for the day when it will be so valuable and rare that sending your poster to a professional restorer will be an investment (Check Posterfix on eBay). Small bug bites, cracking in the paint, light folds, repairable tears and water stains are fine as long as the flaw does not interfere with the beauty and integrity of the image.
4-FAIR- I have many many beauties that fall in this category. It is reserved to the neglected poster. The one who spent years and years rolled in top of a closet in humid Havana or under the beds to keep them flat. Also those who were glued to the walls
5-BAD- This place is only for the poster that is beyond repair BUT is still collectible because it has more than 40 years, only 50 were made and probably this one is the only one in existence.
I included are some closeups from the actual poster for best visualization of its condition.

Original Cuban posters are becoming highly collectable and because of their scarcity many are being reproduced .
Our posters are sent in strong, wide and sturdy shipping tubes with protective paper to prevent damage to the edges.

This original poster belongs to a collection that was started by my husband’s grandmother in 1973 and it was brought by us to the Unites States from 1998 to 2012 in small batches, due to Cuban and U.S government restrictions on importing or exporting art from the island. Each batch was processed by the Cuban government entity Registro Nacional de Bienes Culturales de la República de Cuba that dates from 1998 to 2012 under my name and my husband’s name as permits to take the posters to the United States. I have links in my webpage with pictures of many of the receipts as proof of provenance. During more than 20 years I befriended many of the artists and collectors, read every book and article I could have my hands on and acquired the knowledge to stand by the authenticity of my collection. I will send you a Certificate of Authenticity issued by my art gallery Art of Cuba and signed by me. It will include the  Title of the poster,Year printed and the artist’s name with the image of the actual poster.
