Antique 18thC French Biscuit Porcelain Africa Figurine Porzellan Figur Figure

This product data sheet is originally written in English.

For sale is a biscuit porcelain figurine made in France in the 18th century. Possibly by Niderviller but could be any number of the better factories of the time. The piece is probably meant to represent one of the continents in this case Africa. Nicely modeled as a young gentleman wearing a hat in the shape of elephant ears and trunk, a cloth tied around his neck flowing down the back and around his center while holding a spiked club in one hand and probably a bow or spear in the other though that is long gone. Just a small piece in his hand and a small spot on his hip where it was attached is left. Otherwise the figure is in superb condition and it displays really well. The piece is made of unglazed or biscuit porcelain meant to imitate marble which it really does very well. The figurine is well modeled and since there is no glaze to obscure the detail it is finer than on glazed porcelain. The piece is not marked underneath which makes it hard to determine the exact maker but it is definitely French from this time period. The figurine is 5.375 inches tall and the base has a diameter of 2 inches. French France 18th century
