A GREAT COPY

Singer, 29.07.1913–10.03.1992, born in Modum. Werner started as a hit singer, but early in his singing career he switched to a religious repertoire. He studied singing with Sigurd Hoff at the Conservatory of Music in Oslo, and with Erik Herseth. Werner became for many a well-known and beloved voice in NRK, with countless appearances in the Wish Concert, and as a participant in programs where he sang religious folk tunes and romances. He also sang in opera productions, including in A. Eggens Cymbelin at the National Theater, and has given concerts in Scandinavia, England and Germany.

In the autumn of 1945, Olav Werner made his concert debut at Margaretakirken in Oslo. In the years that followed, there were a large number of church concerts, and in over 300 of the concerts he was accompanied by the organist Rolf Holger. As a record artist, he debuted as a hit singer for Columbia with the waltz "It Shines in a Window" (1938). There were to be several hundred records, 78 records, singles and LPs. From his hit period, all the Hawaiian tunes are especially remembered. In Norwegian popular music history, there was a period in the 30s and 40s when everyone had to listen to languorous Hawaiian tones, accompanied by romantic lyrics. One of the best-selling was "Under Swaying Palm Trees" / "My Paradise" (Odeon), where Werner sang with Eva Bereng to Guttorm Frølich's Hawaiian Orchestra. Other popular hits sung by Werner were the film tunes "Te Quero" and "Our Melody". His religious songs had a large audience, both during the period with 78 records, and later with singles and LPs.

A Quick NOTE ON GRADING AND SHIPPING:

As you can see from my feedback, I try hard to earn your POSITIVE FEEDBACK and FIVE STAR RATINGS.

If for any reason your transaction was NOT SATISFACTORY, pls contact me and I will work something out with you. YOU WILL NEVER HAVE A REASON TO GIVE ME A NEGATIVE RATING or a LOW STAR RATING.

Quick note on grading:

The Grade (Excellent to Poor, I don't give Mint) refers to the WEAR of the record. Any other defects are stated separately

When I listen to a record, I may also give it an aural grade (again E to P), and make a SUBJECTIVE judgment of the pressing quality for hiss and surface noise.
"EXCEPTIONALLY QUIET" is close to noiseless, like a vinyl pressing.
"VERY QUIET" is an above average quiet record for a given pressing.
"Quiet" is a record that is a great example with some noise.

These judgments are SUBJECTIVE and will depend one the styli, phonograph etc. you use on your own equipment.
