A very good copy of the early 1832 edition of Dr. Butler's Atlas of Ancient (Antient) Geography for the use of schools, published by Carey & Lea, Philadelphia.  8vo. includes advertisement leaf at the front, with a 34-page index at the rear. Maroon leather spine and corners, marbled paper over boards, paper title label on front cover, gilt spine rules. 21 double-page maps detailing the geography of ancient nations, from Britannia to Germania.  All maps present. 20 maps hand-colored, one uncolored. Edges worn, corners bumped, rubbing to the leather with rubbing and a few scrapes to the paper boards. Maps are in excellent condition. Foxing and toning with a small stain to the upper corner of the front endpapers and preliminary pages. Two names on the front endpapers including a Cooperstown, NY 1834 inscription on the front flyleaf.
