This has been recently cleaned and polished. The listing includes only the pendant; the chain shown in the second picture is NOT included.
This beautiful deep cherry red round brilliant cut garnet is 14.5 mm in diameter, 8 mm deep and is set in platinum (stamped PLAT) on the back of the bail (Photo #3). The bail and sides of the setting features a herringbone pattern engraving (Photos #4-6) and milgrain engraving characteristic of the late 1920's and 1930's Art Deco jewelry. Photos #7-9 show the color of the garnet in bright sunlight. There is a scattering of what appear to be tiny transparent bubbles throughout the garnet that you can see if you hold it up to a strong light (photo 10) in front of your eye but overall the garnet is transparent (it is very common for garnets to have inclusions).
The garnet is framed by a halo of 32 round brilliant cut diamonds, totaling 0.36 carats.
The total length is 31 mm (hair under 1 1/4 inches) long including the bail and 20 mm (hair over 3/4 inches) across.
