Air ministry P-8 compass

This is from an early pre-war aircraft due to the shape of the cross-hairs and also the brass base.
The Brass surround on the later models is painted grey - the compass is the same - just painted, so you could paint it.

Fitted to most pre-war and early war aeroplanes.
Such as Hawker Fury (bi-plane)  / Tiger moths / BA Swallows & early mark Spitfire and Hurricanes + many others.

Purchased by me about 40 years ago from an elderly gentleman who had a shop in Worcester he told me it had come from a friend of his who in the war worked repairing & recycling aircraft for scrap metal. - it had a paper tag attached saying;
 "Hawker fury scrapped at Hullavington 44".

The stamp 44 on the bottom would indicate it was recently serviced or refitted at that time, just before scrapping.

Nice item, would be a very good unit to restore - always intended to do that my self but never got around to it.
It would look very nice on a desk.

No alcohol - liquid inside so safe to post.
