For sale is  a figurine made by Ludwigsburg during their later years in the early 19th century . It is of a flutist playing his instrument to his dog. Very well modeled and painted. The figure has seen better days but I think it is mostly due to one of those overzealous restorers :) They like to over paint much more than necessary and it is something that is all too common :( His hat has flaking to the paint, a chip and some restoration to it, his flute and hands are over painted which has yellowed though there is a flake in the over paint and the original finger is underneath so like I said - way overdone! The dog and his legs were probably off the base and the dogs legs, butt and the bottom part of the guy's legs are heavily over painted. I am fairly sure if you redid the work it is just a break and could be done much nicer these days. A small chip to the side base. Either way a very rare figurine by a rare smaller maker and it still is plenty nice to display in even the best collections! It is marked underneath with a black script P. mark as shown. The piece is 5.25 inches tall and the base is 2.75 inches wide by 2.25 inches deep. musician Musikant Floetenspieler German Germany
