This Alberta Wildlife Certificate is from 1964, the first year of issue. This certificate features a Resident Big Game stamp allowing the hunter to kill 1 grizzly bear, 2 black bears, and an elk, moose, or caribou. The stamp has been pen canceled by writing the certificate number on the stamp as required by regulations. The tag # is written directly on the certificate. This certificate and stamp launch the largest set of hunting stamps of anywhere in the world with a total of at least 1,280 different stamps issued 1964-1997. All licences are now sold on line. The stamp is listed in the Canadian Revenue Catalogue by Van Dam (2022) as #AW2 or in the Rubec & Stover (2015, BNAPS) catalog, AH4. Intact Wildlife Certificates like this are scarce, especially for this first year of issue.
