For sale is a cup and saucer made by Pirkenhammer which is
now located in the Czech Republic around 1850. The factory was located
in a Bohemian village Pirkenhammer ( Brezova ) near Karlovy Vary also
known as Karlsbad . A Mr. Hoeke founded the factory around 1803 with the
help of the Greiner family (from the Thuringia area). In about 1810
Christian Fischer & Reichenbach bought it and after 1845 Reichenbach
was gone. In 1852 Christian's daughter Wilhelmine married her cousin
Ludwig von Mieg . The company was now Fischer & Mieg . They won a few
very high prestige awards for their porcelain. After the 1840's the
porcelain became more decorative and higher quality. The company is
still around today which is a rare feat. The cup and saucer is hand
painted with a pink and purple luster design along the rim with little
panels of flowers and green crosses. There used to be a lot of gold trim
on top of the pink but that is mostly gone now. I originally thought
these are Russian until I found the mark on them. The cup has a rough
inner rim area where a lid would have sat. Both pieces are marked with
an impressed F&M mark as well as a number 2. Impossible to see
unless you shine a bright light through it. The cup is 3 inches tall and
3.5 inches in diameter. The saucer is 1 inch tall and 5.625 inches in
diameter. In good condition with the missing gold already mentioned and
the missing lid also mentioned already. Still looks great. Untertasse 19th century
