This is the one that can use the largest 104x159mm or 4x6 shipping labels (S0904980) that Dymo supply, as well as the rest of the sizes!!!
Item surplus to requirements. Obtained a while back as a spare but is now not needed. Only listing under “Spares or Repair” due to print quality.
**This printer produces scannable & readable prints, however there are multiple vertical miniscule hairline print misses that do not interfere with a scanner read on either the QR codes or barcodes.**
It is intended for the buyer who already has all the necessary accessories to make it work, ie 24v 3.75a power adapter, xl spool etc.
Keep for a spare, or replace your broken one cheaply.
One of the few on eBay that is proved & shown working.
A word to the wise
It is worthy of note that the latest Dymo 550 series, which includes the 5xl, label printers utilise a label sensor in conjunction with an RFID chip on the newest GENUINE Dymo cardboard label cores (light green boxed). Without these 5-6x more expensive genuine labels the 550/5xl will not function. It will not recognise either earlier genuine Dymo labels nor compatible ones and refuses to work…it just becomes an expensive paperweight on your desk!!!
If you want to keep your running costs low then it would be advisable to keep using these earlier 400 and 450, 4xl series printers that you can get cheap labels for. There is only a limited supply now (as production has stopped) so get them whilst you can.
NB. This is a BARE printer ONLY. A spool is pictured for demonstration purposes ONLY & NOT INCLUDED.
Bare means there are no labels, Spool, Power Adapters, Mains plugs or USB cables, Installation CD or paperwork. In other words there are NO ACCESSORIES.
Condition: this is a 2nd user item that functions 99% (due to the a/m print quality) mechanically. Has had about 15 labels thru for testing & it passed, even with the vertical print misses. Labels are clear & sharp. Motor & label transport functions are smooth with no stuttering. Electrical/USB connections are clean & tight. Cosmetically, this item has the usual light scuff marks on the black Perspex of the lid, which is to be expected from a used home/office item. The body is clean with some mini marks (please see the pictures).
The printer has been cleaned, serviced & anti bact’d. The thermal printhead and roller have been cleaned with Isopropanol to remove any residual adhesives…all good.

A couple of the nicer things are that it goes into standby mode with a reduced power consumption when the usb is inactive, and also the v8 software is very user friendly. You can even overinstall it onto an older version & it updates your old label files to be included in the newer one. Also network compatible. Very useful.
This printer is .25 of a second per label faster than the normal 400 version @ 53 labels per minute!
This printer is only .25 of a second per label slower than the standard 450 Turbo version that you would maybe pay the same price for.
Do you really need to save that extra quarter second, or could you make do with this label printer, that also uses the largest shipping labels?
Leave it up to you.
This is the 450 recent generation of these printers and look very smart on the desk in black & silver livery.
Further information, manuals, drivers, FAQ’s and the LATEST Ver 8 labelwriter software can be found & downloaded FREE from the Dymo website.
It IS really recommended to download & use the latest Ver 8 software as it is simpler to use with more functionality. If you go to the Dymo Software Download Centre go to the “Search by Software” rather than “Search by Printer”. I am saying this as people have been confused as to the right software to download. It is v8.7.4. Dymo Connect is also available but I have yet to find anyone with a good word to say about it.
