Vintage 1980's Boom Box PANASONIC RX-5030LE Cassette & 4 Band Radio - Has Damage

This is a really cool 1980's PANASONIC RX-5030LE - Made in Japan Boom Box that has some Damage to the Case so is being sold for Spare Parts or Possible Repair.. 

The Right Hand Speaker Grille has a Large Hole - I think the Grille is part of the Case Moulding - there is also a hole in the back of the case and the tape selector switch on the top of the unit has snapped off..  Its a shame as Otherwise the BoomBox seems in good cosmetic condition..  It had not been plugged in for a long time but I tried the unit out and the Radio Seems to work well and the Red LED Meter works great - speakers working great with good volume..  The Tape unit seemed to work pretty well considering its age - FF and Rewind worked although the Play Function seemed to run slightly slow initially - it could be that the drive belt needs replacing as it is quite an old unit now.- and the tape mechanism really could do with  a service - because of the things mentioned the Boom Box is being sold for spare parts or possible repair only please.  Battery compartment looks corrosion free and the battery cover is in good condition.. This might be useful as a source of parts to repair a similar unit.. 

This is a great large sized boom box - to give an idea of size the unit measures approx. 46cm wide x 25cm tall and 12cm deep. 

I have now managed to put some batteries in the unit and after twiddling them around a bit the Radio Burst into Life and seemed to work pretty well considering the Ariel is missing - it picked up lots of stations on both FM and MW and sounded quite good.  The Tape is not working properly - I found an old cassette to try it and the rewind / FF functions worked but when play was pushed the spools only turn for a second and stop - static sound comes out of the speaker when the buttons are pressed - so please be aware the the tape is not working. 

A great Classic 1980's Boombox in need of some love.
