This is a 1948 first edition, hardbound copy of "Peony" by Pearl S. Buck.  Nobel prize winner Buck's novel follows the smooth integration of Jews into Chinese culture as compared to the Holocaust in Nazi Germany.  The blue hardback is in nice condition, with spine, binding and pages clean and tight.  There is yellowing on interior flyleaf. (See photos) Jacket is missing.  The novel was purchased new by a family member and has been sitting on a bookshelf for the last 70 or so years.
