Welcome to our listing for this unfinished crocheted remnant item- looks like Grandma had started this blanket and never finished it. Beautiful large "granny" squares in (almost a hot pink) 'neon' pink, blue, yellow and green, dating back to the 1980s- Great coloration and still very sophisticated. She bought her yarns in an old-school fabric/yarn store and was known to use good quality materials for her yarn-work. Please note: there are some variations in the two strips- the pink color looks slightly different, perhaps a different dyelot. Also, there's some areas that appear to need better tying off- we have left them as we found them, and a few areas characteristic of uneven stitching as this was entirely handmade.
We inherited a box of her items carefully stored- There are two long strips (the beginning of a blanket?) and extra yarn, but not enough to make more squares- and other colors missing. We will include the remaining yarn that was with the blanket- but there is only some of the hot pink (and a whole yarn skein), some green and a tiny bit of the blue- there wasn't yarn for the other colors.
*Please note the colors may look slightly different in the photos- the pink is close to that of a neon pink of the 80s that adorned many clothing items. It's a cross between a bubble-gum pink and a lighter pink in tone. It is close to what is called a "hot pink" but this yarn has a lighter, sweeter tone (than a true hot pink which has more of a magenta overtone). The green in the photos looks more muted than it actually is- the actual color is more of a brighter green, similar to Shamrock green.
PLEASE NOTE: The two strips each contain 5 crocheted 'granny squares' that measures approximately 11 inches x 11 inches on one strip and 11.5 x 11 on the other strip. The two strips have some other variation, the pink looks to be a very slight different color-same type of yarn but to my eye, it looks to be slightly different. The two strips don't line up exact.
Due to the variations between the strips, and lack of enough remaining yarn, this would be a project for some clever soul/sewing/crocheting wiz who can crochet and blend other materials together- perhaps a wall hanging, a coverlet, a table runner- or a blanket if complementary colors could be obtained to make the rest of the blanket. Even to make a smaller size tot blanket for a child would probably need a complementary additional color or pattern to 'frame' the pieces to make it larger and make the project come together. Another possibility is to make this into something completely different- retro crocheted vest, etc.
We are now consolidating due to a move and downsize and letting go of many cherished keepsakes and collectibles. Each bin brings new/old 'treasures' from the past.
The pink yarn included has the label, by Spin-a-Yarn.100% acrylic per label and machine washable. Imported from Japan, processed in the USA. Color #1121, Dye Lot # 7404, Article # SY408.
SIZE SPECIFICS:One strip measures about 11 inches by 60 inches in length, while the other measures about 11.5 inches x 60 inches in length. One looks slightly longer than the other, the type of stitch looks wider on one giving it that appearance, they are close in same size and may need some stretching to get them closer.
