I have been buying and collecting Sterling odd pieces, for the last 50 years, and now I am selling them ALL!
This is a guaranteed Antique Russian box, 84 silver contnet, and signed, and stamped by the maker, for the year 1883. I do not think it is a snuff box, as itis a little too large, and way to heavy compared to the other snuff boxes, I see on ebay.
It has beautiful niello decorations, and all hand done, back in the 1880's. It measures 3.86" by 2.52", and it is a very deep 1" thick. It was made to resemble a book, for the looks of the hinge design, and it weighs a whopping 146.4 grams, so more than 3 times, the weight of the normal Russian snuff box.
No damage and no repair marks.
