For your bidding consideration:  A Beautiful  WESTERN USA W39 vintage Hunting - Skinning Knife with Leather Sheath.  

      This great collectible fixed-blade Bowie has a solid & secure Rosewood handle and Mirror-like steel blade.  

The companion Roughback Leather Sheath is included and measures 9.25" long, plus fits the W39 Hunting / Skinner knife well.  

   According to the Western's blade stamping of W39  F....the (F) indicates that this fixed-blade knife was manufactured in 1982.

One well-constructed early Western USA hunting knife that is from my personal vintage knife collection, and now available with No Reserve!

   

Remember, "back in their day" these older knives were mostly purchased to be uses, Not collected...making a knife in "Great Vintage Condition" difficult to find.

BLADE:

One beautiful vintage "Western Rosewood handle knife" that features a long "upswept top false edge"  which could be sharpened, if desired.  The mostly "Mirror-like steel" trailing-point blade offers a plain edge and there are No blade edge nicks.

When I turn the blade just right in the light, I can see some tiny (micro-size) surface age specks which are consistent for the age.  This reflective fixed blade is in Great Vintage Condition for being decades old, and has some thin surface rubs/light surface scratches (possibly some from taking the knife in and out of sheath, or from light sharpening). I'll leave any decision to sharpen the bright blade up to the new owner.

   Designed with an upswept serrated-thumb-rest for better blade control, makes this workhorse of a knife just right for the field.

The Western factory W-39 Knife has a lot of desirable character & USA history behind it, and is just waiting for the right person to appreciate and make it their own

HANDLE:

The solidly-made Rosewood handle beauty offers a Heavy-duty Brass half-guard, and shiny Aluminum pommel, and there is No looseness.  The hefty finger guard measures approx. 1   1/2" long. 

The Western USA smooth Rosewood handle has two Brass pins which are secure and matching composite spacers at each end. The handle and fittings are in Very Good Shape for its age, along with a few expected faint signs of handling.  The beautiful knife and sheath were previously lightly used, but have been carefully stored through the years.

      This early & scarce WESTERN W39 upswept fixed-blade Hunting / Skinner Knife feels well balanced, and solid when held in your hand.

 

SHEATH:

The companion Leather Sheath (case) is included and has intact stitching,  secure & shiny metal rivets,  belt slot, and a working fastening strap with metal snap closure.

This nice vintage Roughback sheath measures 9  1/4" long and has some signs of handling/use or light surface scuffs. Although not original to the knife, the brown scabbard fits the knife well, and the combo would be great for hunting or collecting. 

The front is embossed / factory tooled: with the "Full image of a Magnificent Buck or Elk standing in foliage."

   The old knife has a lot of character and vintage appeal...with that "slight patina of time" appearance not yet achieved with newer knives
