Very reluctant sale of my much-loved VW T25 Caravelle.

I’ve had this van for 4 years now and taken it all over the UK and Ireland. Some amazing memories, but it’s now time to pass it on to someone else to make their own memories.

So, it’s a converted Caravelle. G reg 1989. The interior was converted by Tins Restoration and Kustoms in Cornwall by the previous owner and at the same time it had a Subaru RJES conversion fitting an EJ25 engine. The engine makes it fast enough to keep up with modern traffic, but it’s got a 5-speed box so still fairly economical.

Interior wise there is a rock n roll bed, captain seats that swivel, SMEV hob and sink, corian worktop, Dometic fridge, LED lighting, rear seat belts, lots of storage. We’ve only used it as a 2 berth and the pop-up top isn’t boarded out for use as a bed, but I guess it could be if you wanted that as an option.

The awning and bike rack are not included in the sale price but along with loads of other bits (mattress topper, awning side panels, inflatable driveaway awning etc) can be bought by separate negotiation.

The engine is from a 2002 Subaru Legacy which had done around 82,000 miles when I got it. Now the mileage is probably somewhere around 90,000.

Since I’ve had the van, it’s had some welding and half respray about 18 months ago. There was some rust coming through, so we tried to tackle that. It’s had new batteries, new radiator, wheel bearings, Bluetooth CD player, new brake pipes, fuel pipes, X blinds. A whole load of stuff. All the bills are in the file so you can see what’s been done.

I’ve got a huge file of servicing and maintenance records and a 12-page handover document with wiring diagrams, checklists etc.

The bad points - the heater blower doesn’t work and there are a few spots of rust that will need dealing with at some point. The temperature gauge has a flashing red light which has been on for 4 years and in fact was something that the previous owner tried in vain to tackle, although it has never been a problem. There’s a whole page about that in the handover document. Other than that, maybe some wear and tear marks.

I listed the van last year and tried my best to answer all the questions. But if at all possible, I’d suggest you come and have a look at it if you’re interested. I’m happy to do a live video call if that’s something that may help. It’s a lovely van and I’ll be sorry to see it go but we’ve just bought a motorhome and we can’t have both.

I’ve probably missed lots of things from this description so I may amend it as I think of things. Feel free to message me if you have any questions!
