Ft. Atkinson, WI Cabinet Card couple ID Family Ricker, photo by Ella L. Buck

What an unusual time to have a woman photographer! I have not been able to research to see if she was in business long alone, or inherited the business from a relative, or how she came to be a woman in business for herself.

This older couple have decided to get dressed up and have their photos made.Mrs. Ricker's cap sets off her hair. Mr. Ricker's white mane practically lets him drift into the background. What a great beard he has.

Fading to image. Yellowing to image. Light soiling to card and image. Beveled, gilded edges to card. Some foxing (brown spotting to image.)

Below image, on front, are printed, in gilded letters:
"Ella L. Buck" and "Fort Atkinson, Wis."

In pencil on reverse is written "Family Ricker."

Card measures about 6.5 inches x 4.125 inches. Image measures 5.75 x 3.875 inches.

My mother was a photographer who collected antique photos of all types for years. As I am settling her estate, I will be listing these photos as quickly as I am able.

There are hundreds of photos to go through, and I am trying to match any information my mother may have left with individual photos. Unfortunately, Mom had dementia at the end of her life and wasn't able to tell me much about her collection. She had done a lot of research into photographers and individual pieces in her collection, and often, but not always, filed her research with the photo(s). I search for more information on the internet and in history books, but it's a slow process and it will take me a long time to complete the sorting and selling process.

I am always happy to combine shipping on multiple purchases, so please check out my other listings.

I will ship as soon as I receive payment.
