Vintage MCM Edwin Knowles Festival F-5220 1950s Atomic Mid Century Modern Plates Bowls Platter Starburst Geometric Wheat.
A set of 6 (six) 10 1/4" plates, 2 (two) 8 3/4" bowls, and 1 (one) 12 3/4" wide serving dish / platter by Edwin Knowles in the Festival F-5220 pattern. All pieces are in very good, vintage, preowned condition with some expected but minimal signs of wear and age. No chips or cracks. Some small surface scratches and utensil marks on the pattern on some dishes. The back of only one plate does have crazing and a mark/defect that looks like a faint X. Only the plates are marked on the back. See all photos.

The set is part of the the Forecast Shape first introduced in 1956 right before Christmas. The Festival pattern from 1957 is a modern abstract botanical in yellow, green, brown and gray. This is a stunning set for that atomic mid-century modern tablescape!

Made by Edwin Knowles China of Newell, West Virginia. Edwin M. Knowles started his pottery company in Chester, West Virginia in 1900. He later expanded into Newell in 1913. Both locations made Knowles dinnerware until the early 1930s when Harker took over production at the Chester plant. The Newell plant continued to make dinnerware until 1963.
