Old Himalayan Coral Red Glass Bead (Sherpa Coral) and Shell Necklace Nepal

This auction is for a pre-owned Himalayan Coral red glass bead necklace. The red beads are made of glass and are originally from China. This type of red glass was used to imitate the rare and expensive red coral used by Himalayan women. They were made to imitate coral and traded in Nepal and the Himalayas as “coral.” They are old and may pre-date the 20^th century.

The shell pieces are newer, but their age is unknown. Large center brass-bezel shell piece has two sides. The other side is missing its center bead
