The Urli is a small
circular cooking pot constructed of bell metal that was used for both cooking
and producing medical mixtures. It is available in a variety of forms and
styles. It appears to be strong and would be used for many generations. This Urli is handcrafted in India and is reminiscent of the big
Varpu jar used in Kerala temples to prepare Prasadam. Since a lot of changes in the cooking
traditions of the country, the Urli has now become decorative pieces filled
with water and floating flowers or candles.
