This antique oval brass keepsake box features a detachable lid in the three-dimensional shape of a female face, with a traditional bindi dot engraved into her forehead. Handmade circa 19th century in western or central India.        

  An identical box has been on display in the Decorative Art department of India's National Museum in New Delhi. In excellent vintage condition, with some tarnish in the interior of the lid and base.
