1787 Third Volume Classic work about the Alps and their glaciers. - Marc-Théodore Bourrit (1739 - 1819) was a Swiss author, draftsman and mountaineer. His writings testify to a passionate love for the Alps. He was the first person ever to attempt to climb Mont Blanc (unsuccessfully). It is his great achievement to have brought the alpine world closer to the people of the 18th century.
