For sale is a rare dog figurine of a King Charles Spaniel also often called a Bolognese Terrier though I am fairly sure it is the first type of dog breed. Either way it was made by Meissen in the early to mid 19th century . He was originally modelled by the famous Kaendler in the 18th century with lots of detail and is very well hand painted. The difference in terms of quality to more modern Meissen dogs of this type is obvious. He even has the paws modeled underneath. A heavy figurine with just the typical one air hole underneath it's butt :) Marked with the blue crossed swords as shown though they are quite faint. Just in case one has its doubt it also has the incised model number C26 to show the authenticity of the figure! There would have been a companion piece facing the other way but I don't have him. The figurine is of a good size not tiny like most dogs. The dog is in superb condition with just a touch of wear to the back but as nice as they come! There is what looks like a chip to the underside of the front left paw but it is from when it was made and does not show when on display. The figurine is 5.75 inches tall, 5.5 inches long and about 3.75 inches deep. Germany statuette German Hundefigur
