Netherlands, Dordrecht, silver jeton, 1600, Battle of Nieuwpoort. Lion rampant presented with hat by Manus Dei textending from clouds, column inscribed FLAND to left/Pile of arms and other military devices aflame, banner to right.

The pile of burning arms represents the ultimately illusory hope of peace with Spain after the Dutch victory battle; in fact the war was to continue until 1648.

VF+, attractively toned, a few minor marks. Very rare and a nice example.
