#66 1890 Calender Letter Opener Page Turner Eastern Telegraph
Painted wood showing map of world showing under sea cables in 1890.
330mm x 40mm.
I have actually owned this for over 50 years.
It belonged to my father who worked at STC in the UK (Standard Telephones and Cables),
and it probably originally came from there.
Some wear.
I see other similar ones for sale at GBP200-260.

A 130 year old piece of Scottish Mauchline Ware this Page Turner was manufactured as an advertising or promotional piece for the Eastern Telegraph Company Limited of Old Broad Street, London. The company were responsible for laying telegraphic cables across the World and the blade decoupage depicts a World atlas on both sides showing the cable routes with the handle being a calendar for the year 1890 (six months each side).
