Kriegsmarine Cap Tally

Description

These are great reproductions of the WW2 Kriegsmarine Type 2 cap tallies.

These 'Mützenbänder' or cap tallies feature subdued golden yellow text on a black BEVO background and are approximately 138cm long and 4cm wide. The cap tallies are designed to be wrapped around the base of the Kriegsmarine sailor cap and threaded through the 4 strings, two vertical and two at an angle to shape the "knot" at the back, with the tails worn loose down the back.

The Kriegsmarine cap tally was introduced on the 1st of November 1938 as war became imminent and restrictions were placed on the wearing of named cap tallies, with their use permitted only when there was no possibility of outside personnel seeing them. The named cap tallies were withdrawn entirely for wear under additional regulations on the 5th of November 1939 and replaced by the Kriegsmarine tally for the remainder of the war.
