With the silencer closed the exhaust volume is reduced by an average of 50-75%.

Frequently asked questions:

Do I need to drill a hole in my exhaust to fit the silencer?

The ONLY silencer that requires NO drilling or holes!

If you have ever tried to drill a hole in a curved polished exhaust you will know it is extremely difficult! We would recommend fitting the silencer into holes in the exhaust if possible.

Does it reduce performance?

Dynometer tests show that performance may reduced to that of a standard exhaust with the silencer fully closed, however full performance is regained with the silencer open.  With the silencer fully closed back pressure is returned to near stock levels and fuel consumption may improve due to exhaust scavenging.  As the silencer can be adjusted you are able to choose a custom volume to power setting.  

Will these silencers work with high performance cars?

Although they may work, these silencers have not been designed for use on high performance cars and Dark Ice Designs accepts no responsibility if bought. 

Will it work with all exhausts back boxes?

The baffle only works with the above sizes of round exhaust tail pipes.  It will not work with inward rolled pipes.

Will it work if I have removed exhaust silencers / catalytic converters / have poor exhaust joints or full aftermarket exhaust systems?

The baffle has been designed to only reduce the volume from large bore exhaust backboxes.  If you have the above, then the baffle may not be as effective at reducing volume and they are purchased at your own risk.

Can I return the silencer?

Return the baffle/silencer in 'as new' condition within 14 days and you will receive a refund (minus postage costs).

My exhaust size is not listed / not round/ inward rolled do you have a silencer to fit?

Unfortunately not.

Motorway driving is very unpleasant because of the noise of the exhaust (especially at 70mph), will this baffle help?

This is probably the best reason to have one.  In cabin volume is reduced to stock and so motorway driving is quiet and relaxing as it should be.  You will wonder how you ever drove on the motorway without it. 

Are these silencers safe to use?

Exhaust back pressure tests have shown the silencer to be safe to use, however as car engines vary so much Dark Ice Designs recommend performing your own checks and cannot accept any responsibility for damage that may be caused.

I recieved the baffle within one day of ordering and when i installed it in my car as the detailed instructions said i noticed an immediate difference, without this baffle my car wouldn't of passed the MOT test but it made such a difference to the sound that it passed without a problem!
