This motherboard is compatible with all the R5 and T4 series before T43,
including R50 R50E R51 T40 T41 T42.... Please read the following descriptions.

send your Thinkpad(you can remove your hard drive for privacy) to me, I
can replace it's defective MB with my MB, ship back the laptop and the dead MB

Definition
of the condition of my motherboards:
They are all from a closeout sale from a Lenovo certified
service company.
New: Sealed in
antistatic bag, with original box.
New(others..): Sealed
in antistatic bag, without original box.
Manufacture Refurbished: Used, refurbished, resealed by
IBM/Lenovo. Most of them have orange stickers” serviceable used part”.
All three above are what you will receive if you ask Lenovo
customer service to replace your motherboard.
They all have MAC address labels packed in antistatic bags for you to
replace the old label on the bottom of the laptop. All the MBs are sealed; however, I opened one
for each FRU/part number to take pictures.

Compatibility
of T4 R5 series motherboards:
T40/p T41/p T42/p R50/p R50E R51, all these models ‘
motherboards are compatible to each
other. 14” or 15”, motherboards are the same.
Some of R50E motherboards do not support minipci slot and/or
dock connector.
Different graphic cards on the MB require different
heatsinks:
Short heatsinks are OK for ATI 7500 32M.
ATI 9000 32M or ATI 9000 64M needs FRU 13N5341 or higher.
ATI 9600 64M or ATI FireGL 128M needs FRU 42W5240.
T4 series before T43 have the well-known graphic card problem,
which is caused by graphic chip losing from PCB board. Replacing a R5
motherboard with integrated graphic card, you can avoid this problem
forever. Integrated graphic card is
weaker, but the difference is not significant today.
T43 R52 R51E are running with FSB 533 Dothan CPU and ddr2.
Their motherboards are compatible with each other.
T43/p needs fan FRU 26R8197.
R52 needs FRU 26R8198 or FRU 26R8197.
R51E needs FRU 26R8296, which is the unique fan to fit R51E.
T4 series’ heatsinks can be installed in R series with same
level graphic card, not vice versa.
These fans’ FRU are not unique. Search the FRUs on ebay, you
will find out what the compatible fans look like.
