Timber Tones Guitar Picks - Made from 23 different exotic timbers to give different feels to suit electric, acoustic, classical or bass guitar.

Each wood offers a change in tone so that you can to fine tune your sound. Plectrum dimensions are 30mm tall, 20mm wide and about 2mm thick with a solid grip and feel.

- LIGNUM VITAE - Janka Hardness 4500 - Lignum is very hard wearing and self lubricating thus we recommend this timber primarily for soft use on Bass Guitar. Lignum Vitae is also included in the Electric Four pack although we would advise against using it for shredding as Lignum does not withstand abrasion as well as Ebony.

- AFRICAN EBONY - Janka Hardness 3320 - African Ebony is a very close grained timber that polishes to a smooth finish, this ensures that you get a clean crisp sound. The hardness ensures that it can withstand the riggers of Electric Guitar playing. If used on an Acoustic guitar it will dramatically brighten the sound.

- MACASSAR EBONY - Janka Hardness 3220 - Although Macassar Ebony is very similar in hardness to African Ebony, it is a much more open grained material. This grain pattern is usually obvious on the surface of the plectrums and affords much more grip. If used on an Acoustic guitar it will dramatically brighten the sound.

- BLOODWOOD - Janka Hardness 2990 - Although Bloodwood has a lower Janka number than Macassar and Sonokeling it has a much closer grain and as such polishes smooth giving very similar tonal characteristics to Ebony. As such Bloodwood is highly recommended for Electric Guitar.

- PURPLE HEART - Janka Hardness 2713 - Purple heart is on the cusp between an Electric Guitar and Acoustic Guitar use. Warm mellow tones can be achieved on an electric Guitar however the relative hardness of Purple heart is likely to slightly brighten the tones of many Acoustic Guitars.

- NIGERIAN SATINWOOD - Janka Hardness 2600 - Nigerian Satinwood is a very open grain and thus grippy timber. Although it is very dense the open grain nature of the timber lends itself to controlled playing to gain a slightly brighter tone.

- JATOBA - Janka Hardness 2350 - Jatoba is a very smooth, hard and thus bright sounding wood, not only will it create some beautiful crisp clear tones on an acoustic guitar but it also has clean blues / Jazz tones on an electric.

- BUBINGA - Janka Hardness 1980 - Bubinga is well known for its mellow rounded tones on an acoustic guitar. If the frequency of your guitar is slightly too bright for your ear then Bubinga may add some mid and lower tones on most guitars.

- AFRICAN SAPELE - Janka Hardness 1510 - African Sapele has very nice balanced warm tones. It should add some depth to most Acoustic Guitars emphasising the lower and mid range frequencies.

- CURLY MAPLE - Janka Hardness 1450 - Curly Maple has very nice balanced warm tones. It should add some depth to most Acoustic Guitars emphasising the lower and mid range frequencies.

- AFRICAN MAHOGANY - Janka Hardness 830 - African Mahogany has very warm tones however due to its relative softness it is only recommended for use on Nylon strung Guitars.
