What is N-Acetyl-L-Cysteine?

N-Acetyl-L-Cysteine (NAC) is a glucogenic, sulphurous amino acid synthesised in the liver.

NAC is an altered form of the amino acid L-Cysteine and is one of the few amino acids to contain sulphur. As a consequence, NAC has a strong sulphur like odour which is completely normal and may build up inside the bottle.

What does N-Acetyl-L-Cysteine do?

N-Acetyl-L-Cysteine (NAC) possesses anti-oxidant properties and may improve the defence response of the immune system. People with depressed immune function may  exhibit lowered cysteine levels. Always discuss this with your medical practitioner before undergoing treatment.
