This listing is for nutrient agar powder, now with 1g of added soy peptone per 50g of agar for further nutrient enrichment. If you want agar with no added soy peptone then just send a message with your order. The first image shows the agar, after preparation, with an oyster mushroom culture colonising the agar.

Three types of agar are available to choose from;
  • Potato Dextrose Agar (PDA)
  • Malt Extract Agar (MEA)
  • Malt Extract Yeast Agar (MEYA)
  • Soy Peptone Yeast Extract Agar (SPYEA)

All available in weights of 50g, 100g or 500g.

How to prepare agar:

1) Dissolve 50g of PDA, MEA, MEYA or SPYEA in 1 litre of warm water.

2) Autoclave/pressure cook for 15 minutes, ensuring sterility thereafter.

3) Pour into Petri dishes and leave to set for 10 minutes, then inoculate.

1 litre of liquid agar will prepare approximately 50 Petri dishes at 20ml per dish.
