    Battery sizes

For the hearing aids, the batteries were developed in 4 sizes: 10, 13, 312 and 675. Many manufacturers additionally support the size difference by standardized color code on the packaging.

    _

    -Protective films of zinc-air batteries
Do not be irritated by letters in front of or behind the size number. These are only relevant to the manufacturers.
    Storage

You should keep your hearing aid batteries at room temperature and avoid storage in hot places as heat shortens the shelf life. A refrigerated storage is also not recommended. Batteries should not be carried loosely in your pocket or purse because metal objects, such Coins or keys, lead to short circuit, leakage or bursting. Always carry batteries with you in the supplied original blister pack.
    Lifetime

Battery life is determined by the type of hearing aid you use, your hearing, and the duration of use.

The operation of a zinc-air battery

The zinc-air system has replaced the older mercury system. The design of the battery uses the oxygen from the air outside the battery. By comparison, zinc-air batteries have fewer battery changes, clearer tones, less volume adjustments and twice the life of the battery, meaning less battery replacement for you. After removing the tab, air penetrates through the tiny holes. The oxygen of the air combines with the zinc to form zinc oxide. This reaction produces energy that supplies the hearing aid.

The manufacturer seals the air holes of a battery with a protective film. This keeps the battery in an inactive state, as long as it is not needed. Before inserting the battery into the hearing aid, remove the protective foil and wait about one minute. During this time, air enters the battery and activates it. But please note that re-closing the protective foil will not restore the battery to an inactive state.

Safety in zinc-air hearing aid batteries

  1. Fire - Never throw batteries into a fire. They could burst open and release the internal components.
  2. If a battery has been swallowed or ingested, seek medical help immediately.
  3. Never store or leave batteries in places that are easily accessible to children.
  4. Remove empty or weak batteries immediately from equipment.
  5. Never mix old and new batteries in one device. This could cause the batteries to run out. Replace all batteries in one device at the same time.
  6. Never put different types of batteries in one device at the same time. This could cause the batteries to run out.
  7. Be sure to insert the batteries in the correct direction according to the manufacturer's instructions and that the polarity (+ and -) is correct.
  8. Do not leave battery powered devices on when the batteries are discharged. This could cause the batteries to run out.
  9. Remove the batteries from equipment that has been stored for a long time.
  10. Avoid getting the batteries into contact with metal objects or other batteries as this could cause them to leak or burst.
  11. Do not recharge zinc-air batteries as this could cause them to leak or burst.
  12. Do not try to disassemble batteries.
