Quality reproduction German Officer collar tabs, these have black thread as worn by Heer Combat Engineer officers.
The black strips denote the wearer as an Officer of the military engineers. Military engineers included many specialised professions;

This form of identification has been used by German Armies since the 19th century and is still used by the Bundeswehr today.
These collar patches were also worn by German Military Engineers Officers. The boards are hand embroidered using a silver bullion cord onto a stiffened dark green, wool backing.
