This is a great general purpose valve for water and other low viscosity liquid applications. These valves are suitable for potable (drinking) water, but do not have any 3rd party certifications such as NSF 61. All the "wet" components are made out of FDA listed materials.
Like most diaphragm-type valves, this valve requires minimum pressure differential (3 psi) between inlet and outlet side to open. It is intended to be used in pressurized systems, not in gravity feed systems. The pressure may come from city water pressure, appropriate pump etc.
These 1/2" non-tapered threads seal fine with standard (tapered) 1/2" NPT fittings with couple turns of teflon tape. However, the ideal fitting for this thread would have a gasket or cone seal that seals against the end of the thread. Standard flexible Faucet Connector lines use these types of fittings.
The valves are are very fast acting. Our customers have even used them in computer controlled "water curtains" to create writing and patterns in the falling water.
Attachment: The mounting flange has 4 mm machine screw threads for attachment.
The valve coil is nylon encapsulated and is water resistant (but should not be submerged).
The coil is rated for continuous duty, which means that the coil temperature will stabilize at a safe level and will not continue to rise indefinitely. As with most continuous duty rated valves, the coil may still get warm or even hot during long activation periods. This is completely normal for most solenoid valves. If your application requires very long activation periods, please contact us for additional advise.
