"The history of the HERMANN Teddy Bears was born in 1913.  On October 24, 1913 the two brothers Artur and Max and their sister Adelheid began with the manufacture of their first HERMANN Teddy Bear in a small village called Neufang nestled in the mountains of Thuringia near the town of Sonneberg which was at that time the Toy Capital of the World.  In 1920 Max Hermann founded his own Teddy Bear Company.  Her moved to the town Sonneberg, where he developed a renowned name.  His Teddy Bears were exported around the globe.  After World World II Germany was divided into East and West.  With the escalation of the cold war and the emerging Communist Regime in East Germany, Max Hermann fled from Sonneberg for Coburg.  In Coburg Bavaria he started anew and continued the old tradition of his Teddy Bears.  In the year 1955 his son Rolf G. succeeded Max up to his death in 1995.  The grandchildren of the founder Dr. Ursula and Martin Hermann are today's president of this old German Teddy Bear company which is now named HERMANN-Spielwaren GmbH. Coburg."
