The History of These Buttons…
In 1994 we connected with a button dealer who
purchased these buttons from a factory in Muscatine Iowa before it went out of
business. This town, known as "Pearl City" was along the Mississippi
River where a German immigrant had an idea to use mussels from the river to
make buttons because of their pearl-like inside coating. Buyers from all over
the world would travel to "Pearl City" for these buttons. In fact,
Chanel was one of the buyers competing with us for the inventory we have
listed.

PICK-UPS/LOCAL BUYERS: Items may be picked up in person
at our Chicago, IL Studio. Buyers must retrieve items within 7 days after
payment clears. A storage fee in the amount of $5/day will be charged for each
day after the 7 day period that purchased items are not picked up. Items not
retrieved by buyers after 28 days will be re-listed for sale.
CONDITION OF ITEMS: Please note that the vast majority of
our select inventory of vintage items and antiques is previously used, and some
have had decades of use; others are over 100 years old, and others still may
have been neglected and/or improperly stored or poorly maintained for a long
time. A buyer of such objects understands this and should assume a baseline of
mild wear. We try our best to photograph every item from multiple angles and
describe them to the best of our abilities, accurately, including damage and
condition issues; however, we do not document every minute sign of use. Buyers
should assume that these are present unless we specify otherwise, or purport
that an item is brand new and in pristine, unused condition. If you have
specific questions about any item or would like additional photos, please ask.
