EDNA LEKI 10 Animal Zuni Fetish Jar Pot Turquoise Sand - 1st Female Carver

EDNA LEKI 10 Animal Zuni Fetish Jar Pot Turquoise Sand - 1st Female Carver

Enda Leki (c. 1924 - 2003), daughter of famed carver Teddy Weahkee, is reported to be the first female Zuni fetish carver.  Her works have become extremely sought after and are in various museums and private collections.

This 4.5" tall x 6" diameter pot with crushed turquoise sand coating has 8 fetish animals attached to the side and 2 inside with the original desert sand.  Originally acquired by the collector for whom it is being sold for in 1998 from the Sunshine Studio in Santa Fe, NM.  The original sales receipt will be included with the jar to document provenance.  The last three photos show this receipt, which provided a fair amount of detail on the purchase.  I have electronically obscured parts of the invoice in the photos, for privacy purposes, but the original will not be redacted in order to preserve the chain of custody.

In excellent condition.

A superb item to add to your collection.
