JASON'S PERSPECTIVE

This painting is about the time Jason had to leave David Lee Roth's band

after recording "A Little Ain't Enough."

ALS had advanced so much for him that

he could no longer tour.

We called David Lee Roth and had a final farewell.

We were all kind of sad, but I asked Dave

if I could take a photo of Jason and him together.

That's the only photo that exists.

Jason and I took off in the van, heading home

where he was going to live with me and have a new life.

We were going to go down Highway 395,

one of the most beautiful highways in California

with tall mountains on one side

and desert country swinging down the other side.

In front of the painting, you see a guitar-a broken guitar

all in pieces. The paint's cracked away.

That symbolizes Jason's career at that point.

It was very sad to me.

But we headed up 395 into a new life filled with sadness,

but also filled with hope.
