SPOT Gen3 offers the following improvements over the previous SPOT 2 model:

Reduced Size: Easier to carry and travel with, the SPOT Gen3 is compact and light.

Longer Battery Life: More than 2 x the battery life of SPOT 2 when using internal lithium batteries.

Custom Tracking Rate: Tracking positions can now be sent every 2.5, 5, 10, 30 or 60 minutes.

Motion Activated Tracking: An internal motion sensor gives SPOT Gen3 a theft alerting capability. Place it on any asset and when it detects movement it will begin transmitting its GPS coordinates. 

USB Connection: Enables line power for unlimited use without concern for battery power and allows your SPOT Gen3 to have the latest firmware updates at all times.

In addition to the new features referred to above, SPOT Gen3 offers all the benefits of the previous SPOT 2:

SPOT SOS 
The SPOT Gen3’s SOS function can be used in the unfortunate event of an emergency scenario or other life-threatening situation. Once activated, SPOT will acquire its exact coordinates from the GPS network, and send that location along with a distress message to the GEOS International Emergency Response Coordinating Center every five minutes until cancelled or until the batteries are depleted. The Emergency Response Center notifies the appropriate emergency responders based on your GPS location and personal data as well as notifying your emergency contacts about the receipt of a distress signal.

SPOT Help 
The SPOT Gen3’s Help function acts as a less serious version of the SOS function; it can be used for circumstances which are not immediately dangerous and will alert your own contacts to your situation.

SPOT Check In/OK 
The SPOT Gen3’s Check-in button is a simple feature which transmits a message to reassure your family, friends, or colleagues that all is well, or that you have reached your destination. Up to 10 contacts can be set up and all tracking points automatically save to your SPOT account. Your contacts will receive either a text with your message and coordinates, or an email featuring a Google Maps link to your location.

SPOT Custom Message 
This button will send a pre-written message to your chosen contacts, along with your current GPS location, for a more detailed response or a secondary ‘help’ message when used with the SPOT Assist service. Your contacts will receive either a text with your message and coordinates, or an email featuring a Google Maps link to your location.

SPOT Track Progress (Additional service plan required)
SPOT Gen 3 allows you to transmit your GPS coordinates every 2.5, 5, 10, 30 or 60 minutes. Additionally, the new Unlimited and Extreme tracking plans will send messages until you turn off your SPOT so there is no need to reset after 24 hours. Friends, family and colleagues can view your current and past tracks online. SPOT Gen3 has the following battery life based on the tracking frequencies show:

• 2.5 min tracking interval: 20 days
• 5 min tracking interval: 25 days
• 10 min tracking interval: 45 days
• 30 min tracking interval: 50 days

(assuming fully charged battery at commencement)

Dust & Water Resistant
SPOT Gen3 has an IPX7 rating, meaning it is designed to withstand the most extreme weather conditions. It can even be submersed in water up to 1m for 30 minutes.

Service Plan Options:

Annual Basic Service & Tracking Plan (Annual Cost: €179.99 ex.VAT) – Required for all SPOT Gen3 devices, this plan allows you to send unlimited predefined Custom, Check-in, Tracking, Help and SOS messages. Basic Tracking automatically transmits your GPS location every 5 minutes for 24 hours so you can share your adventures in near real time via SPOT Adventures or a SPOT Shared Page.

Annual Extreme Tracking Plan:

(Annual Cost: €84.99 ex.VAT in addition to cost of Annual Basic Service Plan) – Get all of the great features of Basic tracking but with the added ability to vary your track rate down to every 2½ minutes. Perfect for use on planes, vehicles or for the ultra-outdoor enthusiast.

GEOS Member Rescue Benefit (Annual Cost: €15 ex.VAT) – Allows for reimbursement of up to $100,000 in search and rescue (SAR) expenses, and will even liaise with private SAR contractors if necessary.

Warranty – 2 year warranty included.

*The GEOS benefit provides up to $50,000 per occurrence in reimbursement for qualified SAR extraction-related expenses for which you are held responsible up to two (2) events per year.
