BERCHET Maestro Confort Ride-On -

"Amazon.co.uk Review

The Maestro from Berchet is a 5-stage ride on--in fact it's all the ride-ons, you'll ever need to buy, which makes it incredible value. It's designed to develop with the child from the age of six months, with the addition or removal of different sections.

With the top section attached, the Maestro is a baby rocker and can become a fun and secure car (complete with steering wheel, horn and handbrake) to be pushed about in. With the top section removed, the toy has yet more uses. When babies are ready to take their first steps, and are looking for a steadying influence the Maestro becomes a push along to toddle behind. Older children will love to ride along, whether under their own steam or helped by an adult with the removable push bar.

It is a brightly coloured, sturdy unit which gives babies a new view of their world. In rocker mode, young babies can rock themselves a little, while strapped in with hook and loop straps, or the toy can be kept stationary by anti-tilt spoilers at the front and back of the rocker section. The hook and loop straps should be applied fairly tightly, in order to stand up to excited and vigorous baby activity. At this stage, babies may need additional toys to keep them busy as they sit, as the activities mounted on the desk section are fairly limited. A green phone handset adds interest, but parents should keep an eye on it as it is not attached and could be easily lost. The horn is appreciated, but perhaps set a little far down when the top section is attached.

The beauty of this ride-on is its adaptability, although it does require some determined effort to separate the pieces and take it to the next stage. The seat can be lifted up to provide storage space, and in this section is the screw to enable removal and reattaching of the rocker and foot rest sections.

The Deluxe version of the Maestro includes colourful, padded covers which are removable for washing.--Rachel Ediss
