Featured in this auction is a gorgeous bud vase or cabinet piece made by Rookwood Pottery.  The vase is in excellent condition with no chips, no cracks, no crazing and no repairs.  This piece is 7-1/4" tall, 3" wide at the bulbous base, and 1-1/2" wide at the rim opening.  The base of the pottery is stamped with the Rookwood Pottery flame mark, the shape number 2309 and the production year XXII (1922).  The vase features a beautifully-sleek arts-and-crafts design tapering to a narrow neck and a flared rim.  This gorgeous glaze is a matte rose underglaze with a lighter matte overspray that has curdled on the vase creating a beautiful mottled, drip effect.  The glaze drip does not extend all the way into the interior of the vase, and there is a very small clay tag inside at the neck.  The edge of the rim is slightly rough because it has not been glazed.  This technique does however create a very cool visual detail for the bud vase.  The vase is very clean both inside and out with some glaze drips on the base and tiny glaze pinholes.  There is also very-minor scuffing from gentle use.  Check out all 9 photos!  This gorgeous arts-and-crafts bud vase would look amazing in your favorite display cabinet.  It would also be perfect for any Rookwood or American art pottery collector.  Check out my other pottery listings!
