GERMAN SALTGLAZED COBALT WINE EWER C pre-1900

This is a nice old saltglazed stoneware wine ewer from Germany.

It has a nice relief design with cobalt glaze.

The spout and top is in the shape of a head of a gargoyle or griffin with beak.

It is made to have a doughnut shaped body with a hole in the center.

It is stamped Germany in the bottom. 

It measures 9" X 5" wide.

This is an unusual piece and fits well in a stein or wine collection.
